This article will guide you through setting up Thunderbird for Windows to use your new FastLink email address. Please follow the instructions carefully.
Setting up the POP AccountOpen Thunderbird, go to the "Tools" menu and select "Account Settings..."
Click the "Add Account" button.
Make sure "Email Account" is selected and then click "Next".
Enter your name and your FastLink email address.
Enter "mail.fastlinkcommunications.com" (without the quotes) as the Incoming Server. Click"Next".
Enter your full email address as the "Incoming User Name". Be sure to enter your full email address and not just the user part. For example, if your email address is " This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ", be sure to enter " This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it " and not "gunslinger". Click "Next".
Click "Next". (You can change the "Account Name" if you like, but there is no need to do so.)
Click "Finish".
Setting up the SMTP AccountNow that we have the POP account set up, we can set up the SMTP account. Click "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" as shown in the image below:
Click the "Add..." button.
Enter a description (for example, FastLink Communications) and enter "mail.fastlinkcommunications.com" as the "Server Name". Enter your full email address in the "User Name" field. Click "Ok".
You should now be back at the window shown below. Select the POP account you created a minute ago (ellipse 1 in the image below) and then select the SMTP account you just created from the pulldown menu (ellipse 2 in the image below).
You can now click "Ok" to finish.
